Our goal isn’t a one-size-fits-all rule.
Our goal is GRACE and TRUTH.

That’s our main takeaway from Part 3 in Anger Management where we’re talking about boundaries: what they are and how to establish healthy ones in our relationships.

Unfortunately though we had a technical difficulty with our equipment during the first half of the message and the audio ended up being of very poor quality. My apologies to everyone listening. We did our best to salvage what we could and this is what we ended up with.

But if you stick with it through the first 24 minutes, the issue gets corrected after that.

The Art of Loving Confrontation

Recently I spoke about the issue of conflict resolution in marriage. I spoke about how the goal is not to AVOID conflict, but rather to RESOLVE conflict. But the question for today is how? Practically? What are some tips or strategies we can implement to help us really resolve conflict and remove any bad feelings/bitterness within us?

As I mentioned yesterday, the starting point is setting the right goal. The goal isn’t conflict-free living; the goal is what’s best for the oneness in the relationship (obviously I am referring to a marriage relationship here, but the same principles can be applied to any relationship).

So if the goal is oneness and depth and intimacy, then compromise won’t get it done. Neither will avoidance. Those strategies only yield short term results and in the long term will lead to resentment and relational distance. Instead we need LOVING CONFRONTATION.

How much is a friend worth? How might my life be lacking without the right ones? Is it really possible that just one friend could really change my life in a meaningful way?

YES! ABSOLUTELY! In fact, I believe that you might be just one friend away from a whole new life (assuming of course it's the right kind of friend). You may not realize it, but often when God wants to change our lives for the better, He does so through people...friends...real life people...not the Facebook kind.

And you might be just one friend away from a whole new life.

The One Skill You Need to Make Relationships Last

There’s nothing better than a couple “in love” – especially an engaged one. Walking on air. Head in the clouds. Living in a state of bliss and happiness and certain that they will live happily ever after.

I’ll often meet an engaged couple like this and they’ll say to me “We are so blessed because we haven’t had any conflict in our relationship.” They assume that I’ll be so happy for them. But I’m not. In fact, my response usually comes as a shock to them: “You really aren’t ready to get married then. You don't need to learn how to AVOID conflict; you need to learn how to RESOLVE it.”

That isn’t what they were hoping to hear.
