Temper Tantrums

Humanity + Divinity = SYNERGY

September 20, 2018

“His divinity parted not from His humanity for a single moment nor a twinkling of an eye…”
Excerpt from the Divine Liturgy of St. Basil

Temper tantrums – a parent’s worst nightmare.  If you have children, temper tantrums are unfortunately an inevitable part of life.  You don’t have to teach a child how to throw a temper tantrum; there is something instinctual within them that tells them what to do when they don’t get what they want.

Cry…kick…scream…yell…roll around on the floor…call as much attention as you can to yourself and your extremely embarrassed dad who just wants to know where the cereal aisle is so he can get his Lucky Charms and get back home as quickly as he can.

Temper tantrums are something that all children know how to do.

But you know what?  It’s not just children; we adults do the same thing.  We may not be so obvious about it, but if we’re honest, we often find ourselves throwing temper tantrums with our heavenly Father when He doesn’t give us what we want or when He asks us to do something that we don’t want to do.

THE HARDWARE OF THE SOUL - Speaking of Health, Part 3

June 18, 2018

We're in Part 3 of our series SPEAKING OF HEALTH and this week, we're looking at the "Hardware of the Soul."  In other words, we're looking at our brains and trying to learn how they work and what role different parts play.

Why?  Because the more we understand how our brains work, the better we'll be able to a) diagnose a problem when it happens, and b) invest in the health of the various parts/functions of the brain.

So get ready to learn!  Class is in now session :)

EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON - Things Jesus Never Said Part 4

June 6, 2016

Week 4 of the Things Jesus Never Said series and this week we talked about one of the most common misquotes of Jesus that Christians say all the time - "EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON".

"What's wrong with that?" you ask.  "Isn't that the right thing to say?  Aren't we supposed to trust that God is in control of everything?  It certainly seems like something that's probably in the Bible somewhere right?"

WRONG!  Check out the video above and listen to my thoughts on why this statement is not only untrue, but also so dangerous when used in the wrong context.

Surrendering to Win - INTO THE WAR ROOM Part 4

October 5, 2015

"Surrender isn't about WHAT; it's about WHOM."

Surrender.  What does it mean?  What does it look like?  Is it just something that we talk about, and read about, and sing about?  Or is it something that we actually do?  And how do we know if we've done it or not?  Is it possible to kinda surrender some things but not really surrender everything?

That was our topic in Part 4 of INTO THE WAR ROOM.  We focused on the issue of surrender and saw how it might be the most important part of our prayer strategy.

As Miss Clara taught us in the War Room movie, "If you wanna win, you're gonna have to first learn to surrender."
