In Need of a “Come to Jesus” Moment?

Is it just me or is life getting faster?  It can’t be just me can it?  I don’t know what it is but the more I desire to get my life in order and under control, the faster and more chaotic life seems to get.

Always on the run…late to an appointment…stuck in traffic…got 2 hours worth of errands to run in 45 minute lunch break.  Busy, busy, busy.  Finish one busy season and the next one is even more busy.  ENOUGH!!!!

Believe me, no one knows the stress of a busy life more than me – especially these days.  Between the responsibility of shepherding a church or leading my family or just trying to be faithful in my walk with the Lord, it just seems like I can’t get caught up on everything.  One task gets done and two more are waiting right around the corner to take its place.

I’m not alone am I???

My question for you today is this: where do you turn when you are stressed?  Where do you go when you are at the end of your rope?

“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28-30

Have you learned how to turn to the Lord?  It's not as hard as it sounds.  Turn to Jesus.

My guess is that most of us have a place where we turn to, but it may not be the Lord.  We may turn to TV or to friends or to our jobs.  We may turn to a bad habit or some other pleasure-inducing vice.  Those things may or may not be bad, but they certainly won't give you what you need.  They won't give you the rest that you're looking for.

Jesus didn’t come to this earth to make your life more difficult.  He came to give you REST – as He did for the Samaritan woman [see John 4], as He did for Zacchaeus [see Luke 19], and as He did for the sinful woman [see Luke 7].  But we must do our part.

All of those people who found rest had one thing in common…THEY CAME TO JESUS!

They didn’t sit around sulking.  They didn’t complain.  They came to Jesus.  Even though they may not have known what He had to offer – they knew that the solution was in His hands.

Can you come to Jesus when you are tired and weary?
Do you trust that He will give you rest?
Or are you seeking your rest elsewhere?

The Lord is making a very sweet invitation to all of us today.  He offers us REST – something that all of us are searching for.  And the gift is freely offered to you today.

The only question is: will you seek it out?  Will you take Him up on the offer? Will you come and get it?
